OATHKEEPERS
by Tom Lineaweaver
The longer I live, I see the importance of keeping oaths. Many of the problems we face in America comes because people are not keeping the oaths they vow to. Our elected officers make an oath to support and defend the Constitution. They don't keep that oath.
The reason for all the healthcare problems we see in America is because doctors no longer make or keep the Hippocratic oath. I can understand objections of making an oath to pagan gods, but the rest of that oath is good. Doctors more than anyone holds life in their hands, and should do all to protect that life.
There are some that claim the problem with healthcare is that there are too many malpractice lawsuits. Too the contrary, I believe there should be more. Everytime a doctor violates the Hippocratic oath he should be sued, or even be held accountable in criminal court. That's why I want a National Healthcare Law based on the Hippocratic Oath. You can see that here: line2016.freeforums.net/thread/27/national-healthcare A National Healthcare Law like this would solve at least most of the problems with healthcare we have. And I believe all healthcare professionals should be held accountable to this standard. Healthcare professionals hold life in their hands more than any other, and we should take that seriously. Healthcare professionals must put the needs of the patient above all other considerations. Those that do not should not be in the healthcare field. It is better to have a few good doctors than a million lousy doctors.
The same is true for politicians. The Constitution of the United States is a populist document. The fact that the preamble starts with, WE THE PEOPLE is a major clue to that fact. Therefore, politicians need to put the needs of all the people above all other considerations. And if they keep their oath, they would do that.
I believe that all who make an oath, no matter who you are or in whatever capacity you serve, you need to keep your oath. Whether you are a doctor, elected to government in all levels, a lawyer, a judge, etc., you must keep your oath.
When I am President, I will ask Congress to pass laws to assure that people in this Country who make oaths will keep them. Those who do not must be held accountable either civilly or criminally. Even if you make an oath to be a mechanic, you need to keep that oath. So, maybe what we need in this Country is an Oathkeepers Act that will hold everyone accountable to keep the oaths they make. What a difference that would be.
But, more than likely we won't get anywhere close to that unless I become the next President.
