CHRISTIAN NATION AMENDMENT
by Tom Lineaweaver
I have long believed that the word "religion" in the First Amendment referred to Christianity. But, there is a debate about that. Therefore I call on Congress to propose this as a Constitutional Amendment ...
Congress shall pass no law respecting an establishment of Christianity, nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Congress may pass laws to regulate or ban any and all other religions that are of concern to the people of the United States of America.
This proposed amendment would accomplish several things. It would establish the United States as a Christian nation which many believe we already are anyway. It will also give Congress power to regulate or ban religions the American people have concerns about. For example, many are concerned about Islam, and the effect it is having, allowing for Sharia Law. Congress would have the power to regulate or ban Islam as they see fit, in response to their constituencies.
Also this amendment would clarify the First Amendment, of which the purpose was to prevent having a national church. The First Amendment was never intended to allow every religion under the sun to be established in the United States. I have never seen the American people be as concerned about any religion as they are about Islam. Therefore, Congress should be allowed to respond to that concern. But, there is the perception that the First Amendment disallows Congress from acting. This Amendment would remove such impediment.
So, in fact, this amendment would change very little. Just allow Congress to act in areas of religion that concern the American people, except for the establishment or free exercise of Christianity. I believe that is what the majority of the American people want. And, if Congress does not act before the election of 2016, when I am President, I will urge Congress to propose this Amendment.
LET US RESCUE AMERICA TOGETHER
