AN ALTERNATIVE

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government...
That's a portion of the Declaration of Independence. We are given certain rights by our Creator, and Governments are instituted to secure these rights. When a Government becomes destructive of these rights, we have the right to abolish it, and form a new Government. We are at that point.
I have been a political watcher for a long time. I have even run for office, and been on a political committee. Only in the last 5 years or so, I have studied Government. I came to a point where I believed I have to do something. Eventually I decided to try to become the Governor of Pennsylvania. That didn't work. At the urging of a fella from Louisiana, I decided to run for President. But the more I study our Government, the more I am believing it is unfixable. Does the Government do anything right. Yes, and that should be retained in our new Government, if we ever establish one.
Is it a stretch to say our current Government has become destructive to our rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? I don't believe so.
Sometime ago I have written an article about abolishing the Federal Government. Here it is...
ABOLISH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
Today, I blew my stack with Congressman Jim Gerlach's office.
I have a question. Why do we have a Federal Government? Why do we have Representatives? They don't really represent us, do they? An overwhelming majority of the people of this country are opposed to military action in Syria. Yet, the schlub in the White House seems undaunted by the will of the people. Isn't this supposed to be a government of, by and for the people? Well, you know, it hasn't been that for a long time. And, it just keeps getting worse.
I use to think it can get better if only we elected better people. That hasn't worked. So, I think it's time to abolish the Federal Government. If we had everything the Federal Government steals from us, the States could take care of themselves.
Okay, I realize there are some things that a centralized government is necessary for. So, I propose one branch of government. An executive branch, to carry out the laws established by the States. This executive branch be will run by a commission, not a president. For every Federal office left over after reorganization, there will be a commissioner, elected by the people of the States. They will not pass laws, they will not raise taxes. They will simply run those offices. Should one or more commissioner need a law. they write the law, and transmit it to the States for ratification. If 26 States ratify, it becomes law. Each State shall determine in themselves their own ratification process.
We don't need anymore Presidents or Representatives unanswerable to the people. We've had enough of that. It's time for a real change that can give us the hope of national salvation. If we want a government that is truly of, by and for the people, we need to establish one. What we have now ain't it.
IF WE ABOLISH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, THEN WHAT?
What I am saying is, what we have is not a government of, by and for the people. They take almost everything. They take a lot of our money and just blow it. They have passed laws that steal our rights.
I am not saying that we should eliminate important Federal programs. Just the President, Vice President, Congress, and the Supreme Court, in favor of a commission form of government. For example, we could have a Commissioner of the Office of Foreign Affairs, and a Commissioner of the Office of National Affairs. And instead of a Supreme Court, a Commissioner of the Office of Justice.
Basically, what I am saying is what we have now is doing much more harm than good to the American people. And I think we can do better.
NEW CONSTITUTION
I want either to amend the Constitution to allow the changes in government. But, that won't work, since it would have to go through Congress. Then I would want a majority of the States to call a National Constitutional Convention.
The New Constitution would include:
Article I. Declaration of Rights. (formerly known as the Bill of Rights)
We could also add onto the Declaration of Rights to include voting rights, etc.
Article II. Commission Form Of Government. This article would explain the Commission form of Government. How they are elected. What there powers are.
Article III. Amendments carried over from the previous Constitution
Article IV. Additional Amendments. These are amendments considered and included by the Convention.
Once the New Constitution is hammered out, it will be transmitted to all 50 States for ratification. It will need 26 States for ratification. Once ratified, the New Constitution will be in Power, and the old Constitution will be history. And the Government under that Constitution will also be history.

Since I wrote that, I have reconsidered a few things. I don't honestly believe the States, or at least not enough would agree to a convention like this. The States are run by Republicans and Democrats, and I really doubt they want to lose any power. So, I believe that We the People must convene a People's Convention.
Also, I realize some might be a little skittish about a Commission form of Government. But, consider this, we won't have to pay a President, Vice President, Congress or Supreme Court. The bulk of Governance will belong to the States as it should be. What ever Federal Department we have it will be run by a Commissioner, not a Secretary. The Commissioner will follow the rules established by the people at the Convention.
Also, I do not want to eliminate the Electoral College. That means when someone runs for Federal Commissioner, they must win enough Electoral votes to take office. The number of Electoral votes could be based on the population of each State. Perhaps 1 electoral vote per 1,000,000 people. For example, Pennsylvania has a population of 12.79 million, so Pennsylvania would have 12 Electoral votes, unless we allow for rounding off.
Of course we will keep the Census Bureau so they can do a census every 10 years. If the States took their own Census, they might pad their figures so they could gain more power.
